  • 1.  PowerPlay Studio and IBM Cognos Analytics with Watson

    Hi,

    I have a customer who is using PowerPlay Studio in v10.2.2. This customer is looking to upgrade and all your advice will be appreciated.

    I've read that IBM Cognos Analytics with Watson v11.2.1 and IBM Cognos PowerPlay v11.0 might be a good match to continue to use PowerPlay Studio.

    It appears that it is not easy to find which brower will work perfectly...

    Please feel free to share your advice.

    Hi Patrick,
    I have no direct information from IBM regarding PP Studio, but we're also stuck to some legacy tools and so far Mozilla Firefox ESR works perfectly with all studios.

    Hi Patrick,

    I setup a test machine in my environment and CA 11.2.1 and PowerPlay Server 11.0 work together perfectly well using Microsoft Edge Chromium. I haven't tested Firefox or Chrome but I believe they should work fine.

    I installed PowerPlay Server on the same machine as my CA dispatcher as it is non-production. All I had to do was change the port numbers from 9300 to 9400 and ensure I referenced the gateway and content manager URIs. When you start CA you will see PowerPlay Studio under 'other applications' in the NEW Menu.

    The build of PowerPlay Server I downloaded and integrated was 11.0.0.106. Component Listing entry is below.

    C8PPES_name=IBM Cognos PowerPlay Server

    Do you need to install IBM Cognos PowerPlay first, then Cognos Analytics? Or do you install both products in separate locations?

    Hi Patrick,

    I installed CA first and configured it. I then installed PowerPlay Server into a separate location and changed the port numbers in Cognos configuration from 9300 to 9400. I also changed the name of the service from IBM Cognos to IBM Cognos PowerPlay in Cognos Configuration as well to visually separate them.
