    I am having a problem installing AIX 5.3 TL5 from dvd ( it was cut on 07/2006) on a POWER6 p570. Whenever I try the install I boot from the dvd and it hangs at "Starting kernel" indefinitely. My initial thought is that the media I have is to old as the AIX 5.3 release notes state:

    New and Enhanced Functionality in the 5300-06 Technology Level AIX 5L Version 5.3 with the 5300-06 Technology Level delivers support for the System p POWER6 based offerings.

    I was wondering if anyone else has seen this and if so is my initial thought correct and new media will resolve the problem?
