We are planning to setup a Power HA 7.1 cluster using two LPARs in two different P770 frames. Each LPAR is connected to VIO servers and redundancy is established at VIO server level We are using Virtual FC (NPIV) at the LPAR side to connect to storage.

We will setup SAN based heartbeat and CAA disk as mentioned in the URL; http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/aix/library/au-aix-powerha-heartbeat/   I would like to have ethernet heartbeat along with this. I have only two virtual network adpaters in each LPAR. One for production connection (boot IP and Service IP as alias) and the second one for backup.

Can you suggest me how to configure ethernet based heartbeat?  is this required when you configure SAN heartbeat?

    Thanks in advance

No setup is necessary, heartbeat will occur automatically for all ethernet interfaces configured in AIX.

    Thanks, Claudio.
