I understand I'm not taking advantage of the 4-way SMT delivered by POWER 7 (when I run the lpar in POWER 6 mode) but that's not quite what I'm asking.
Am I going to see a performance penalty, compared to a pure POWER 6 lpar, when I run a POWER 7 lpar in POWER 6 mode?
In other words, all other things being equal (CPU speed & availability/RAM/network/disk), if I ran the same workload on a pure POWER 6 lpar and a POWER 7 lpar running in POWER 6 mode, would I see a performance difference between the two?
Thanks.
