Hi,
We are having performance problems on a portlet application when using IE. We notice that performance gets worst when we add more controls to the portlet. CPU usage starts at about 40% but if we leave it open during the night,in the morning will be at 99%!!! If we use firefox no performance problems arise at all. But the client doesn’t want to move to Firefox :(. As anyone faced this problem? Any suggestions?
Cheers Bruno
Hi Bruno,
What version of IE are you using? Unfortunately IE has a pretty slow implementation of JavaScript and that probably causes the problems that you are experiencing. If you are using IE6, you can try applying the latest patches. IE 7 also has a faster implementation of JavaScript.
Hope this helps, Thomas
Hi Thomas,
We were using IE6 and in the meantime we upgraded to IE7 but the performance issue persists. The fact that performance gets worst adding more controls to the portlets means there’s some Javascript code on the page that is always running in a loop. But why?!
Bruno
I believe there is an SR open regarding the problem and we are investigating it further in R&D. You will hear from us via Tech Support or maybe from me directly.
Thanks, Thomas
ok, thanks
