Can you assign virtual fibre channel adapters from the NPIV capable adapters on the VIO servers to iSeries LPARS?

Does routing XIV SAN disks to an iSeries LPAR require a SVC to be between the XIV and the VIO server?

    Thank you!!

    1. you can add disks to vio and map to a vhost with vscsi
    2. you can add disks to vio's fscX port and map this npiv port to vfchost0 with virtual fiber channel,

you need to install xiv_host_attachment scripts to VIO on first way,
you need install to lpar on second way,

Have you successfully mapped disk from XIV directly thrugh fc adapters to IOS?
If you are going through vio for your disks, are you using SVC or not?
    Thank you!

Also you mentioned you were using AIX with NPIV. We wanted to get some feedback on performance from other users on this. How many active NPIV virtual wwn's per adapter are practical - there are limitations and it depends on IO load but have you seen any benchmarks or had any experience wtih when the adapter becomes a bottleneck?
