Is it possible to monitor my P590 using HP-OV.
I understand HP OV can monitor on LPAR level , but can it monitor the whole of my P590 along with VIO and other resources.

Also wat are the features that i get from IBM tivoli monitoring System edition for System-P.

This is a free tool from IBM for P-Series.

    Thanks in advance,

    Warm Regards,
    Ajit

I would suggest you try it first before spending money on anything else.

    Thanks for your reply.
I have already tried nmon , and i am looking for granular monitoring.

I have also used HP-OV and hence was looking if that could monitor P590 as a whole.

Else it looks like Tivoli system edition would be the best bet..

It's a great web-based app which gives you a historical view of your nodes in graphical format.

Pretty much everything you need AIX binary-wise has already been created by Michael Perlz so you save on compile frustrations: http://www.perzl.org/ganglia/

The only thing I had to do different was install a different rrdtool then on the Perlz website, so I had to get it from here instead:

    http://www.inet.hr/zmp/ibm/rrdtool/

Note, the 5.2 version worked like a charm on my 5.3.

It's certainly alot cheaper then HP OV, although the documentation and support is scarce.
