I have a system AIX 6.1 with the following oslevel return:

    #oslevel
    6.1.0.0

How can I change this to "oslevel 6.1.3.0"?

I Update to TL 4 SP 6 but nothing changes in this output, this base level is changed only in the fist installation?

    Thanks all in advance.

    #oslevel -rl returns few args.

    But #oslevel -s returns 6100-04-06-1034 what I mean it´s AIX 6.1 ML 4 SP 6 correct?

btw the base level 6.1.0.0 don´t change.

Another act I made, was update from SUMA to Maintance Level, and osbase level still same.

    Any help will be precciate.

Are you sure that you have download the correct package before upgrading the Technology level on this machine ? If yes, what's the total size of the package ?

    Its possible to fix easily.

    #lppchk -v
    No Output.

My problems is my client don´t worry about SP levels, just to oslevel base, they look at
    #oslevel -g.

    Thanks again.

Sorry, I was noticed your first post properly.

Note :- "oslevel" command will only show your base level and won't show the actual technology level. Check "man oslevel". Explain this to your client and if they really want to check the actually oslevel, they need to use oslevel -s or oslevel -g.

    Example :-

My machine running with AIX 5.3 TL12 SP1 and oslevel -g output is below.

    # oslevel -g
    Fileset Actual Level Maintenance Level

    bos.rte 5.3.12.1 5.3.0.0
Your last post says that you are using oslevel -g. Now, what's the output of oslevel -g on your machine ?

Now we talking the same words :D.

That´s the return of oslevel with -g arg.
    #oslevel -g
    6.1.0.0

Even after update the system with SUMA doesn´t change de base os level.

In the production server they get 6.1.3.0 in "oslevel -g" that´s is what we intend for.

From your instfix output I noticed that, there are couple of incomplete tech levels. You can find the missing sets using oslevel -l oslevel.

    1. oslevel -l 6100-05
    2. oslevel -l 6100-06

    Cheers,

Not all filesets for 6100-05_AIX_ML were found.
Not all filesets for 6100-06_AIX_ML were found.

Someone tried to do the upgrade to TL6 and it was not successful.

Can you just check this instfix -i | grep ML commands output on the other server where the oslevel -g output seems good.

This issue may occur due to fileset missing problem.

Is this machine being upgraded the TL recently ? If yes, do you have the old copy of os on the alternate disk copy / multibos ?

I recall that it even caused some problems for an application that thought it was on a "vanilla" 6.1 system despite the fact that the host is on TL6 level?! I think it said something like TL2 or newer is required. Anyway, it was not a major issue and it was easy to go around the problem so it was put on a low priority.

I would be interested to know if anyone else has seen this on AIX 6.1 TL4 and newer?
