    Hello,

has anybody experience with the OPC protocol integration?
We will have to implement it and are lacking experience.
Would anybody please share his experiences with me?

    Thanks,
    Josep

    Hi,

OPC means OLE for Process Control
It´s also mainly used to connect remote meassuring stations to the central unit.

    Cheers,
    Torsten

How were you thinking about using OPC from webMethods? Is OPC delivered to clients in the form of a DLL or .Net Assembly?

    Dear Josep

I was involved in a Integration project where some systems were on OPC Protocol .Usually automation systems like BAS ,FDA SCADA etc runs on OPC protocol .After doing a extensive research we have found that handling these integrations through webMethods is not the right solution .We had gone for a exclusive OPC integration using OPC clients which will connect to the different OPC servers.

    More info is available @ www.opcfoundation.org .

    Hello Srini,

many thanks for the very informative link.
    A question:
Could you tell me, what the mayor arguments were to not use WM for this integration?
If it´s possible: what OPC solution did you use? And did you link the solution than to WM?

    Thanks,
    Josep
