I guess the right way to do it is ot split my nmon file into smaller sizes. using the tool
suggested below. However, the nmon analyzer zip file no longer contains that splitter.
    anybody tell me why?
    Quoting from http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/aix/library/au-nmon_analyser/:

"The tool is distributed as a .zip file and contains .xls files, comprehensive user documentation, a sample input file, a shell script for aiding National Language conversions, and a Perl program for splitting large input files. Installation simply requires unzipping the package to an appropriate directory."

First you should have put this question on the Performance Tools Forum - where all the nmon questions go, as nmon is not part of AIX (yet):
    Find that Forum at http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/forums/forum.jspa?forumID=749&start=0
Not a big issue and don't duplicate this question.
    But next time ....

Next: "nmon cannot process my input file"
No that is wrong - I think you mean the "nmon analyser cannot process ..."
    nmon generated the data.
nmon is the AIX or Linux binary developed by Nigel Griffiths (me) that displays of captures the data and the nmon analyser is the Excel spreadsheet developed by Stephen "macro king" Atkins to draw the graphs.
Loads of people are not clear on the difference.

Next: you are reading the nmon analyser Article on Developer Works.
OK it is a good start but this is a fairly static document and rarely updated (yearly) - this is why we have moved to the AIX Wiki, as we can update the information whenever needed and keep it current.

    Now the good news:
The current nmon analyser can handle large files itself now.
This is why the splitter has been removed.
Did you actually try the analyser or just being super cautious?

Can you down load the current analyser (if you haven't done this in the past few weeks) and just try it?
    This is found here http://www-941.ibm.com/collaboration/wiki/display/WikiPtype/nmonanalyser

By the way I do hope you are using nmon11 or better yet 12 and not older versions!
If not get a fresh one from http://www-941.ibm.com/collaboration/wiki/display/WikiPtype/nmon

    thanks Nigel and good luck.
