I don't think that is really what you are looking for, though.
You are probably looking for a graphical connection from your
workstation to your AIX server, so you can export displays back to
your workstation.
In that case, you are probably looking for something like Exceed, or cygwin.
Cygwin is open source, so if you have problems putting ubuntu on your network,
Cygwin might be problematic.
Or maybe you are looking for some kind of integrated development environment, bceause
you mentioned coding. I don't know...The coding environment I use most on AIX is
cscopes, and vanilla VI. So, I am not sure what else might be available.
I think that you need to have a heart to heart with your systems administrator
to find out what you are really trying to do, and what tools he/she has installed
to help you.
The question is a bit too vague for anyone here to provide useful information.
