In older versions of the HMC you could install it on any intel-based hardware. In more recent versions, IBM incorporated a "check" in the install that verifies you're installing it on IBM hardware and, more specifically, one of the 1U models that they recommend.
The long and short is... you won't make any progress changing anything in the BIOS. These checks are hard-coded into the ISO image as well as some of the boot-up scripts after the install is completed.
I've been able to hack the install and successfully get an HMC installed onto a laptop that I use for some of my customers when they're in a pinch. I have instructions on how to do it on my site, but it's not really something that I'd recommend since it's a safe bet you'll be out of support and most likely frowned upon by IBM if you have to call for help.
