From my understanding, native AIX MPIO drivers are supported for the XP24000 (once one obtains the ODM definitions for it). I've been able to locate the ODM definitions for the EVA enclosures I'm attaching this server to, but not for the XP24000.

    Thanks in advance!

To get the ODM defs, you need to talk to HP or whomever supports the array. I just searched HP's site and didn't find the ODM defs but they are probably available if you have a login.

The defs are needed for MPIO to work - see below:

    root@wmsweb1:/patches # lsdev -Cc disk
hdisk0 Available 30-T1-01 Other FC SCSI Disk Drive
hdisk1 Available 30-T1-01 HP HSV300 Enterprise Virtual Array
hdisk2 Available 30-T1-01 HP HSV300 Enterprise Virtual Array
hdisk3 Available 30-T1-01 HP HSV300 Enterprise Virtual Array
hdisk4 Available 30-T1-01 HP HSV300 Enterprise Virtual Array
hdisk5 Available 30-T1-01 HP HSV300 Enterprise Virtual Array
hdisk6 Available 30-T1-01 HP HSV300 Enterprise Virtual Array
hdisk7 Available 30-T1-01 Other FC SCSI Disk Drive
hdisk8 Available 30-T1-01 Other FC SCSI Disk Drive
    root@wmsweb1:/patches # lspath
    Enabled hdisk1 fscsi0
    Enabled hdisk2 fscsi0
    Enabled hdisk3 fscsi0
    Enabled hdisk4 fscsi0
    Enabled hdisk5 fscsi0
    Enabled hdisk6 fscsi0
    Enabled hdisk1 fscsi0
    Enabled hdisk2 fscsi0
    Enabled hdisk3 fscsi0
    Enabled hdisk4 fscsi0
    Enabled hdisk5 fscsi0
    Enabled hdisk6 fscsi0
Only the devices which are from the EVA are seen as MPIO pathed devices. The other three, XP luns, are not showing as MPIO pathed and are generically identified as "Other FC SCSI Disk Drive".

We only have one path zoned currently (hence each of the EVA devices showing down one fiber adapter port, fscsi0), but before the EVA ODM entries were added, I saw those EVA LUNs as two hdisk devices - I now only see them as one hdisk (as expected). The XP devices (hdisk0, hdisk7 and hdisk8) are seen down one fiber channel adapter port and one port out of the XP itself - hence only seeing those hdisk devices once (but if we masked them down multiple XP ports, we'd see multiple hdisk devices for each of those luns without the XP ODM entries).

We're working with HP, but thus far we haven't found anyone there that has a clue yet. Hoping someone else out there knows where to find the driver since HP can't even find it.

I've seen other developerworks forum postings where it seems like others have utilized MPIO with an XP24000. But they're discussing other topics than just obtaining the ODM entries.

    Thanks again!

Thanks, everyone, for the responses. HP finally came through and found someone that knew what the heck we were talking about, located the ODM PCM fileset for the XP2400. Once installed, MPIO came up as expected. Took nearly the entire day to get them, but final delayed success is better than no progress at all...
