I have to connect a V3700 to it so I've been told to install SDDPCM for the multipath.

My question is:  Am I under the risk of loosing access to the DS3500?  I mean that SDDPCM installs over MPIO, do I run the risk of lloosing the multipath driver for de DS3500?.

    Regards and thanks in advnce.

What are your intentions with the DS3500 ?

    • retire it soon ?
    • work along side the v3700 for the next few years ?
    • move the DS3500 behind the v3700 ?

Regardless, you really need to go to the SSIC support site & see if / how your combination is supported.  --> https://www-304.ibm.com/systems/support/storage/ssic/interoperability.wss

One combination that is probably supported (but I don't know your environment or plans):

    • don't install SDDPCM (yet) just go with native MPIO for now.  AFAIK, DS3500 & v3700 both support MPIO.
    • then if you retire the DS3500, (or move it behind the v3700.... I think you need an extra license for this), then consider adding SDDPCM.
