I am shipping some servers to a co-lo. We are going to add powerVM so we can get more mileage out of our power7's. I am not a hard core AIX guy so please bear with me.

We will have an AIX guru assisting but I want some details/plan of action before we get started.

We will build a NIM server and take the images of the rootVG's. After that how do we back up and restore the rest of the server? (appVG)

They are Apache, Websphere and DB2 servers. Ideally we can restore them, change IP's and be up and running. Otherwise I need the software vendor to start making changes, which I'd prefer to avoid.

    a) get new disk at the co-lo and do a cpio across the network
    b) get new disk at co-lo and restore from tape
    c) use some type of SAN cloning (SRDF, BCV) technology

There really isn't anything AIX can do to help you here - the solution would be the same regardless of OS.
