So I was wondering if I can do some type of mksysb and restore it to the new machine ? I was also just thinking that maybe I install ver 7.3.4 sp1 on it and then pull the info from the service processors ??.
Well if anyone has done this and can help that would be great.
    Thanks

I would install a new hardware with HMC image, all that neds to be configured is the NW sweetings, rest mostly everything is fairly plug and play.

Systems Management->Servers->select your server -> Connections -> Reset or Remove Connections -> then select remove connection.

After you have done that, you can remove your old HMC and replace it with the new one, once in place : go to

Systems Management -> Servers -> Add Managed System -> then select whether the system is in a specific IP address or the HMC shoud scan a specific network range.

to find the IP addresses of each managed server use the following command:

    lssyscfg -r sys -F name,ipaddr
it will prompt you for the system's password, I hope you have it documented somewhere or you'll have to open a service call to have the IBM folks get you to login to the ASM interface and reset it.

It does not require any system power cycle or reboots, but having your system's plans handy as well the current partition configuration and doing that during low impact hours would never hurt.

    best regards and good luck,
