  • 1.  Monthly reporting on Resource spending and its details

    Posted Thu October 20, 2022 09:07 PM
Hi, I have a few reports that I need to do each month.

    1) Costs used by certain resource groups, group by product types (VM, SQL, Backups etc), will need the details of each line to back them up
    2) Credit return reports from Microsoft due to unplanned outages/errors at MS end
    3) Ability to show report 1 in a bar chart instead of the fixed line graphs in Cloudability?
    4) Ability to email these reports on a fixed time basis to the stakeholders

    Can Cloudability perform all these?

    Thanks in advance.

oh, four questions in one, ok let's start with 1)

    1) Costs used by certain resource groups, group by product types (VM, SQL, Backups etc), will need the details of each line to back them up

    - to group by resource group, choose group by "Resource Group (value)"
    - to group by product type, choose group by "Usage family"

    2) Credit return reports from Microsoft due to unplanned outages/errors at MS end

With Cloudability you can report on cost and usage data. For an outage you will see that there is no cost and no usage data during that timeframe, but honestly: I think there are better tools to report on outages and errors. A FinOps tool such as Cloudability is purposely built for IT financial management for the public cloud. I would rather see this as a monitoring tool functionality.

sure, with Cloudability can easily create bar charts. Create a widget in a Dashboard and select the bar chart icon under "Display as"

    4) Ability to email these reports on a fixed time basis to the stakeholders

The Apptio Bi offers you the functionality to select a frequency and send time when you subscribe to an Apptio Bi Dashboard. Apptio Bi dashboards can show Cloudability data (as well as ApptioOne data).  The Cloudability dashboard does not provide email subscriptions.
