    I had GPFS on Raid5 earlier and we moved to Raid0. I am trying to use one of the luns for this. However I am getting error 6027-1661 with mmcrvsd.

    root@bull/home/manojcat disk_desc_hdisk2
    hdisk2:bull.gp.cv.commvault.com:gem.gp.cv.commvault.com:dataAndMetadata::::

    root@bull/home/manojmmcrnsd -F disk_desc_hdisk2
    mmcrnsd: Processing disk hdisk2
    mmcrnsd: 6027-1661 Failed while processing disk descriptor hdisk2:bull.gp.cv.commvault.com:gem.gp.cv.commvault.com:dataAndMetadata:::: on node bull.gp.cv.commvault.com.

    However I was able to create CFS on some other luns from same raid0.

    Any help in pointing where I am going wrong is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Manoj

    1) If this is GPFS Version 3.2+, the format of the disk descriptor file has changed slightly:

    hdisk2:bull.gp.cv.commvault.com,gem.gp.cv.commvault.com::dataAndMetadata::::

    2) Also, does the disk LUN you're attempting to use show up as hdisk2 on the system bull.gp.cv.commvault.com ?
    3) This LUN is not already in use by any other system? i.e. does it have a SCSI reserve on it?
    4) Does the GPFS log (/var/adm/ras/mmfs.log.latest) show any more details?
    5) Does the AIX error log show any pertinent FC/SAN/Disk errors?

    Lastly, you may want to use the GPFS forum in the future for GPFS questions:

    1) Yes hdisk2 is as shown in bull.
    2) I am using 3.1.0.11.
    3) Same disk descriptor format had worked for me, earlier and worked now too for a different lun.
    4) mmfs.log.latest doesn't show anything pertaining to the execution/failure of "mmcrnsd" commmand.
    5) AIX doesn't show any Disk or FC error either.
