    I’m working on a AIX6.1 box in a production environment & got the "Unable to create logical volume" error while tried to allocate a new lv (using mklv command).
    I have checked the existing rootvg & it has enough free PP’s.I have attached the error info.
    Anybody have any idea what is the cause of the problem & what’s the necessary steps to resolve this issue?

    Any help will be appreciated.

    mklv cmd. is ==> mklv -t jfs2 -y lv_sap rootvg 18 (Where PP size is 128)

    I'd be tempted to raise a call with IBM software support.

    How can I check the status of ODM?

    Since it's rootvg you can't simply varyoff and varyon as the error message suggests and I wouldn't suggest a reboot if rootvg is known to have issues.

    Since I've never seen the issue before, rather than make it worse I would personally call IBM Software Support.
