    Reason for doing it is to do a quick add of newly available storage to existing lpars which originally were configured with virtual disks by someone else. Administrator doing the work now doesn't want to do any virtual configuration if he doesn't have to.

    One obvious problem I can see with mixing disks is not having the timely ability to schedule maintenance for your server or vio server, unless your server is vio'd lpar too.

    if you'r not concern about performance, it will work. direct attached disk will have better performance than VSCSI disk.
