Migration Path for upgrade from 9.6 to 10.1

  • 1.  Migration Path for upgrade from 9.6 to 10.1

    Posted Tue August 13, 2019 10:10 PM

    Hi,
I’m currently in the process of planning an upgrade from v9.6 to v10.1. We have 2 clustered backend IS’s, an unclustered Broker that I’d like to upgrade to Active/Active UM, 2 clustered TN IS’s and 2 MWS. What I’d like to know is what is the recommended upgrade path we should follow ?? Do we migrate the IS’s and MWS, then the Broker to UM ? Do I install Command Central before or after IS upgrade ? Do I migrate Broker to UM before or after IS upgrade ?

    Cheers,
    David Krivohlavy

There are multiple options. You just have to workout which option works for you/customer

    1. Setup 10.1, migrate all components/assets, test and cut over
    2. Migrate component wise
    • IS and MWS to 10.1 that connects to Broker 9.6
    • Broker to UM

While I would suggest second option, my question is why do you want to go with UM active active ? What is the need? Unless you have specific use case that requires UM a/a, you can always configure UM as a/p. Hey BTW, Broker is extended and supported so what’s the need of migrating it to UM?
