Maximo Mobile with Maximo 7.6.1.3

  • 1.  Maximo Mobile with Maximo 7.6.1.3

    Posted Mon March 18, 2024 02:35 PM

Hello. I am looking for information on the capability of Maximo Mobile with Maximo 7.6.1.3.  Does Mobile have the ability to use BIM (read a COBie or REVIT file) and can it use GIS/ESRI?  Or does this functionality only come with Mobile when using MAS?  Please advise ASAP.  Thank you! :-)

No BIM (Revit viewer) in Mobile apps for 7.6.1.3 nor MAS Manage at this point. (COBie is just for data loading/refreshing). However I would imagine a capable Mobile app developer could arrange a link to a Revit viewer on the mobile device. Yes, if your system has a connection to an ESRI/GIS system, Maps will appear in the Mobile apps for both 7.6.1.3 and MAS Manage.

    Thanks John.

We have established that 7.6.1.3 and Maximo Mobile does not have BIM (Revit viewer capability).  So, this makes me ask the question, "Does Maximo Mobile for MAS 8.x (or 9.0) have BIM (Revit viewer) capabilities?

I currently have a MAS 8.10 DEV environment.  I have created a BIM project and loaded a COBie file, but this was for location and asset data loading. If I wanted to take it to the next step and visually see the assets in the BIM viewer in Manage, this is not possible today.  Is that correct? Do you know when BIM (Revit viewer) will be available in Manage?  What is another option to view Revit with MAS Manage?

    Thank you for your time,

    Lisa Turner

No. The Mobile apps in MAS do not have BIM viewer either. The apps between 7.6.x and MAS are the same at this point.

In order to view 3D models of Assets in Manage, you need to install the Revit/Forge viewer, just as in legacy 7.6.x versions of Maximo.

As I learned from Thomas Knowles (IBM Product Manager for BIM and other areas), the entire BIM functionality ( as it worked in MX 7.6.1.2 and previous versions as well as in MAS8.10 and previous versions) has gone as from MAS8.11 and MX 7.6.1.3. I got to know this when I upgraded to MAS8.11 and asked Thomas about it.  During the upgrade the most important parts of BIM were deleted by an update script. As from version MAS9 there will be a newer setup for BIM available, but requires a total different approach, since AutoDesk is using a newer viewer type and Forge Viewer will not being supported anymore. Until then, I have saved a local VM with MX7612 and BIM installed for all kind of PoC  / Demo purposes. Even IBM is using MX7612 versions to demonstrate to customers and/or used for code development.

For clients that are using MAS Manage Civil Infrastructure, IBM developed a custom made solution with BIM (which is unfortunately never published into MAS for the rest of the world)

Thanks for the insight. That has not been our experience so far with 8.11, so will look further into it and plan for the 9.0 difference.

    Lisa,

Beside ESRI, you can use OpenMap as a "free" Map Viewer. By default applications like MX Mobile, Health and Operational Map (Civil Infrastructure) are using OpenMap viewer as the default viewer.  OpenMap is using the free ArcGis server and is pretty fast when opening.

    Hi Jan-Willem,

Thank you for the additional information.  Would you have the full URL available for the Basemap URL for OpenMap that you have posted in the screenshot? Or point me in the direction to find the URL?

    Thank you,

    Lisa

    Hi Lisa,

    Sure!

    Open Map Provider =  ArcGIS

    Base Map URL = https://basemaps.arcgis.com/arcgis/rest/services/World_Basemap_v2/VectorTileServer

    Site = <YOURSITE>
Zoomlevel = 10 (or taken over from the map zoom level)
Latitude = taken over from the map zoom level
Longitude = taken over from the map zoom level

Be aware that Open Map is only available in the Graphite applications (e.g. Maximo Mobile, Health, Operational Map, and the new Work Order applications. The default Maximo applications still require ESRI Spatial Map Setup or Google / Bing Map setup
