  • 1.  Mandatory follow-up WOs for certain WO classifications?

    Posted Mon January 04, 2021 10:14 PM
    MAM 7.6.1.2

    Tree removal scenario:

Tree removal work happens in two steps.
    1. Initial WO to remove/cut down the tree
    2. 2-3 years later, the stump is removed by a contractor via a follow-up WO

For WOs that are classified as TREE REMOVAL, is there a way to do one of the following?
    A. Automatically generate follow-up WOs when the WO is completed. Or...
    B. Prompt the user that is closing the WO through Workflow to manually create a follow-up WO.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

This is still a very useful question to ask and yes it does apply to Maximo Anywhere.  The scenario given is valid as does happen.  Take for example a Parks and Rec or Rail or Water where the act of say digging a hole to repair a pipe then leads then to a surface repair.  This is done be two different crews.  In rail, a cut and replace of rail then requires the weld to be tested.

So the guidance given is still valid.

I'd like to stick simple.  Use an automation script to generate the follow-up WO.  Now what way to call the script?
    - On object save, on status = COMP.  Automation script.
    - Use an escalation

I would not lean towards to doing anything in Maximo Anywhere because this is a standard outcome of the tree cutting process.  The user doesn't have to think yes/no.  What is missing that is the question.  Is there anything that is needed from the field operator in order to be added to the stump removal.
