Hi everyone,

I'm installing zD&T v10 and I want to try out the software licensing without USB Dongle.
While running the installation script, I got the message, that it is not possible to install both, the zD&T emulator and the license manager.
Does anybody know, if I could set up the software licensing scenario with just one server instance?

Hi Marcel, correct, it's not possible. You have to install zD&T as a License Manager in a separated machine. zD&T client instance will address the License Manager using IP address.

Maybe there'll be a way in future versions e.g. using loopback IP adress.

This is a commercial decision with the aim of making it more difficult to steal zD&T. Don't expect this to chamge.

Hi Michael and Marcel, the reason currently is that zD&T is being proposed to explore the benefits of cloud infrastructure. Working as separated instances they can work properly for availability purposes and for provisioning functions. If you need only one instance of zD&T to run your z/OS, zD&T v10.0 also allows you to make use of the USB hardware device to put your license.
