  • 1.  Layout positioning - Page size, fit to all borders

    Posted Thu January 20, 2022 08:18 AM
The relative layout of pages was better in the first releases of PAW.
Before the upgrade to 2.0.64, the page and tables did expand to all borders when resizing the browser.

After 2.0.64, The grid keeps its fixed proportional size when resizing the browser and the user only sees a part of the grid. An example is when two browser windows are set side by side on the same screen for comparison purposes. Using the "Fit Page" option only makes the problem worse.

I am now on PAW 2.0.72, and the problem is still there.
Is there a solution on the drawing board for future releases?

Here is an image of the settings that I use after experimenting a lot...

I just realized when opening a view in the new modeler workbench, the grid stretches to all borders. I can not implement this same behavior in a book for our users.

Below is an image of my screen. To the left is a PAW book showing some TM1 view and to the right is the same view in the new workbench, stretching to all borders and showing the horizontal and vertical scrollbars of the grid.

Can we please get the same behavior in a PAW book as in the PAW Workbench?

Have you tried the fit to page option and looked at the full screen/single box template? You may have to play with the resolution but you should be able to get a dynamically sized full screen cube viewer with those settings.

I think I have tried everything imaginable to accomplish this but with no luck.
I have tried the templates available when creating a new tab and they all have limitations.
What do you mean by "the full screen/single box template"?

    Asgeir,
This template in combination with new cube viewer should get you the ability to have the view to take the maximum space of the book page layout:

Yes, the problem is that the maximum drawing space is proportionally limited.
I have tested all combinations with no luck.

I think that we need proportionally dynamic templates that will stretch to all borders along with its objects. This was working well before we upgraded to 2.0.64 and later. The limitation seems to be the proportionally fixed drawing space.

I think you are right. You should try dynamic templates which stretch to all the borders along with objects or drawing.

Of cause, by default, a grid or a table should stretch with the borders, but the buttons should not stretch by default.
Also, the horizontal and vertical toolbars of the grid should always be visible.
When working with numbers, the aim is to see as much of the table as possible within the resized browser.

I completely agree with Asgeir. Books need to have a fully responsive option to display tabs that have only one object (Cubeview or websheet). These objects already have vertical/horizontal scroll bars on their own.

I've published two ideas that are currently being reviewed:

    https://ibm-data-and-ai.ideas.ibm.com/ideas/PAOC-I-673

Voting for them would help ;)
