  • 1.  JES2 Install SMP/E Zone

    Posted Mon January 21, 2019 12:29 PM

    We own various Compuware products on our big-iron LPAR.  We recently bought licensing for our zDT systems and am working to move some development down to them.

    I'm installing Compuware Abend-Aid on one of our zDT systems and came across a panel I don't have the answer for.  Basically it is asking for the SMP/E Global Zone CSI dataset where JES2 was installed.

    I did some querying of some global zone datasets and would expect JES2 to be installed in MVS.GLOBAL.CSI.  I did see z/OS and a couple other products in this zone, but not reference to JES2, unless it is inside z/OS as a product.

    Anyone would can provide a clarification would be great.

    Thanks.

    Maybe the following can help you:

    My version is ADCD 2.3 May 2018

    SMPE First panel
    SMPCSI DATA SET   ===> 'MVS.GLOBAL.CSI'

    Option:
    3  QUERY -> 1  CSI QUERY -> following parameters:

    ZONE NAME   ===> MVST --> (MVS.MVST.CSI)
    ENTRY TYPE  ===> SYSMOD
    ENTRY NAME  ===> HJE77B0 --> (JES2 base FMID)

    Result:
    Entry Type:  SYSMOD                              Zone Name: MVST
    Entry Name:  HJE77B0                             Zone Type: TARGET
    Description: JES2 Base

    Thanks for the info.

    I figured that MVS.GLOBAL.CSI was it.  Seemed like the only global zone dataset that would make sense for all that are on the system.  I did some queries on that zone and saw a lot of cryptic stuff.  Never made the connection that HJE77B0 was the FMID for JES2.  Actually it is HJE77A0 for V2R2.  Was looking for something that has JES in it.  Anyway all is well on my venture moving forward.

    Thanks.
