IBM has extended the end-of-service date for IBM WebSphere Application Server V6.1 (WAS V6.1) from September 30, 2012 to September 30, 2013. See the
announcement here.IBM strongly encourages customers to migrate to more currently supported versions of WAS. This change to the end-of-service date provides more time to better plan a successful migration. Moving to current versions of WAS also provides a much broader set of functions (for both developers and operations) and improves performance and total cost of ownership. For the latest information on special version-to-version migration incentives and assistance, refer to the
Knowledge Collection. Here you will find information about:
- A no-charge waiver that expands WAS license entitlements for WAS V6.1 migrations
- Migration Assessment offers from IBM Software Services for WebSphere (ISSW)
- Best practices for migration from WAS V6.1
Customers who have already purchased (or are contracted for) WAS Service Extensions, will be contacted by IBM to discuss appropriate next steps relative to those agreements.
