    No, it is not. AIX only works on RS/6000 (older versions of AIX) and pSeries machines. These are POWER and PowerPC architectures.

    It's too bad that IBM doesn't have a version of AIX on zSeries -- it would be an interesting combination. FWIW, they did have a version of AIX for the mainframe years ago (early 90's?). I think it was called AIX/370.
