Integrating Scanner or Dynamic Web TWAIN with IBM BAW for Image Capture Before FileNet Upload

  • 1.  Integrating Scanner or Dynamic Web TWAIN with IBM BAW for Image Capture Before FileNet Upload

    Hi everyone,

I'm working on a solution using IBM Business Automation Workflow (BAW) where, at a certain step in the process, a user needs to scan a document, add some metadata/properties, and then submit this data as part of the workflow.

I already know how to handle the part where the scanned image and its properties are stored in FileNet-that integration is working fine.

The challenge I'm facing is earlier in the process:

    • How can I integrate a document scanner directly into the BAW UI (e.g., coach views) to allow the user to capture the image within the workflow?

    • Alternatively, can I embed or integrate a tool like Dynamic Web TWAIN into a custom coach or external web application that interacts with BAW?

    • What are the best practices for passing the scanned image and metadata from the front-end (scanner/web UI) into BAW so that it can continue through the workflow and ultimately land in FileNet?

If anyone has done a similar integration or can share resources, code snippets, or architectural tips, that would be extremely helpful.

Thanks in advance for your support!
