    Wir haben Red Hat Enterprise 8.7 auf ein Server installiert und den dann in ILMT eingebunden. Aber leider übermittelt er keine Softwareprodukte, Katalog Cores , keine Seriennummer usw . Hat jemand eine Idee ??

    We installed Red Hat Enterprise 8.7 on a server and then integrated it into ILMT. But unfortunately it does not transmit any software products, catalog cores, serial numbers, etc. Does somebody has any idea ??

    Hello Heike,

    Which deployment type of the scanner have you used on this Red Hat box ?
    Is this disconnected (https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/license-metric-tool?topic=server-installing-linux) or BigFix scenario (https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/license-metric-tool?topic=platform-installing-bigfix-clients)

    Hello Oktawian,
     
    We used the BigFix scenario, since we already have the BESClient installed on all servers.
     
    This Server, however, has the "BESClient" installed manually, following this guide: https://support.bigfix.com/bes/install/besclients-nonwindows.html,
    due to new security policies on our site making it difficult to run the fixlet-installscript..
     
    I tried using the Fixlet "Install/Upgrade Scanner", but it kept failing with "no response"

    This server, however, was set up with "BESClient" manually, following this guide: BigFix Unix, Linux, and Mac Clients
    due to security policy changes on our site, making it difficult to run the install fixlet.

    I tried to run the install/upgrade scanner task, but it kept failing with "no response"

    Hello Heike,

    To be honest 'kept failing with "no response"' doesn't say much....

    So, what exactly do you see on Action tab ?
    'Open' state with 'Not Reported' status or something else...


    First troubleshooting step is to check the Agent local log file which exist under following path:
    '/var/opt/BESClient/__BESData/__Global/Logs'
    It's possible that BigFix Server<->Agent communication is broken/blocked...that is why BigFix Agent (BESClient) doesn't receive any actions...

    Yes, we always end up at "Open State" with "Not Reported".

    As far as I can tell, the connection between our agent and server is fine.

    The log goes as follows:

    Hello Leon,

    Well, I wouldn't say that connection between agent and server is entirely fine....
    Those 'Report Posted Successfully' messages means that BigFix Agent successfully communicated upwards: BigFix Agent -> BigFix Server.
    The question is if BigFix Agent receives UDP notifications sent by BigFix Server...

    I don't see any activities between 08:30 and 13:19...It look fishy.

    To unequivocally confirm UDP notifications flow please force 'Send Refresh' (from Bigfix Console) against this BigFix Agent.
    Agent log should confirm that message by following entry:
    'ForceRefresh command received'


    Anyhow, there is a useful trick to force the full BigFix Agent<->BigFix Server synchronization :

    1. stop the BigFix Agent,
    2. Delete the '/var/opt/BESClient/__BESData' folder,
    3. start the BigFix Agent,

    That way BigFix Agent should receive all due actions...
