I have several aix boxes connected to a SAN array from HP (XP12000) through a Cisco MDS9513. Recently during a firmware upgrade on the array the SAN ports used by AIX boxes went offline (but not at the same time) and i've got the following results: as i do SAN boot some boxes crashed and the LUNs were marked on the array as OPR (Open Persistent Reserve). In order to get this solved the HP technical guys had to clear the OPR flag on the array. HP said that this flag was set by the AIX MPIO driver. Has anyome had the same issue before? Why should AIX mark the LUNs as OPR as the MPIO attribute reserve_policy had the value "no_reserve". How can i prevent this from happening?

It sounds like an unfriendly bug and should be reported to the AIX internal engineers.
