How to reset the management port IP for the IBM DataPower Gateway MT: 8436 52X

  • 1.  How to reset the management port IP for the IBM DataPower Gateway MT: 8436 52X

    Hello,

I am completely new to this hardware box and wanted to know if there were any possible ways to reset and access the management port of MT: 8436. This is a physical hardware which is with us. I assume it should be having an IMM2 that monitors the hardware parameters. Please share any associated knowledge guides or PDSG's/ISG's that could help further.

    Thanks in advance.

For base setup if all connectivity is lost you need to access via Serial Console (115200 Baud) using the cabling delivered with the hardware or compatible solutions.

    See https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/datapower-gateways/10.0.x?topic=configuration-1-3-connecting-serial-cable-appliance

For reset, do you mean physical powercycling or do you mean the "reinitialize" firmware command (clean reinstall)?

For management port, do you mean access to Serial Console or SSH or WebMgmt? Depending on reply the answer may vary.

There is no exact advanced IMM2 in DataPower as in other xSeries servers, but DataPower does support IPMI protocol if configured. Unfortunately, if you mess up its configuration in firmware you can still loose access, then needing serial console again.
