yes, the support is in AIX 6.1 TL2 and AIX 5.3 TL9. The documentation is in the AIX Release Notes... here is the URL for AIX 6.1 TL2: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/systems/scope/aix/topic/com.ibm.aix.resources/RELNOTES/SC23662903

You need to install this fileset: devices.usbif.08025002

Then you run cfgmgr... then you should be able to address /dev/flashdrive0... You can access it via archive commands (tar, pax, cpio, etc.) or via an ISO filesystem...

No practical expertise here... just have read about it...

    Hope that helps,

thats my first post here... So I'll introduce myself: Hello, I'm Marc from Hamburg.

Does anyone know, which usb pci-adapters are working in my 9114-275? At least, which kind of chips are installed in the 9111-285 - maybe this would help choosing something. I do know, for example in SUN-machines are working cards with NEC-chips pretty fine...

    Thx a lot!

    Cheers

my name is Andreas. I'm from Hamburg too :) North west of Hamburg (Schnelsen).

Your 9114-275 is a PCI-based machine, so IBM Feature 2738 will fit.
Here you will find the specs: Link: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/systems/scope/hw/topic/iphcd/fc2738.htm

FC2738 will be withdrawn effective November the 27th 2009, so you have to be fast ;-) Its replacement is FC2728, but you can't use it in the 9114-275 because it es a PCI-Express based USB-Interface card.

Some time before I worked for an IBM Systems Integrator in HH, so I know little bit about POWER Hardware and AIX.

If you use google and search for FC2738 9114-275 you get hit which describes FC2738 as 80P2994 IBM Belkin 2 Port USB PCI Adapter. So it looks like that this card is manufactured by Belkin. Maybe it is a nearly common Belkin Adapter like F5U219VEA1 or it may be that it is specially modified for use by IBM.

    Greetings.

Do you think, each card with the same chip (afaik NEC) will work? For example this one:

    Thx a lot for replying.

just try the Belkin card from e***
The photo of the card layout looks very similar to the schematic figure from FC2738, especially the third internal USB Port and the location of the chip near it. And the position of the circles (capacitors?) looks also very similar.

    So I would try it.

Second, have implemented "mkcd" on 7043-150 and 7044-170, would love to implement USB support on 9114-275. Any hope that there is a USB driver for 4.3.3 on the 9114-275? Thanks.
