  • 1.  How to make Solaris Client read relay parameters from besclient.cfg?

    Posted Mon August 24, 2020 07:21 AM

When installing the Bigfix client on Solaris (for an ILMT fixlet) how do you make the client read the besclient.cfg file AFTER the initial installation and without a reinstall?

How can this be achieved with the effective date parameter in the relay1 &2 fields?

I have tried various changes to:

    effective date (example) = Fri,%2021%20Aug%202020%2019:29:58%20+1000

and all are overwritten on deamon restart.

    Piotr,

In this case 11 but I also tried 10 and the same results. I note this question has been asked in BigFix forums over the years and appears to apply to Linux systems in general. Windows with BF agents appear to read the files after service restart.

I'm asking about version since LMT does not support Solaris 10. I think you should use BigFix forum instead. See https://forum.bigfix.com/t/solaris-11-agent-issue/31642

This is version 11.1 of Solaris which is supported by ILMT at v20 level. BigFix is installed because it is required by ILMT v20 so I believe the question is in the correct place. If the install was BigFix Inventory and thus the BigFix agent installed as a result of that fixlet, then indeed this would be an HCL issue and I would ask in their forum but this is not the case.

So how does one ask questions relating to Bigfix when it is a requirement for ILMT and on a platform supported by it?

The same relates to middle-ware LMT is running on top. The DB2 related question you should post on DB2 forum, the MS SQL question on Microsoft forum, Windows on Microsoft forum, IBM WAS on IBM WebSphere forum, etc. In case of specific impact between LMT and other softwere we can handle such question and try to answer. Also, you may open a support ticket so we forward your question to BigFix team. Please notice your question is pure BigFix and not covered either by LMT configuration or installation documentation.
