    The values for min,des,max cpu are configured within the HMC during partition creation. You can also amend the values via a DLPAR operation, again within the HMC.

    Where your current value of max 32 has come from needs to be answered by the implementor of your solution. In a shared and uncapped environment, I generally configure the number of virtual cpu's in relation to the number of physical cpu's in the system.

    In Dedicated (or Dedicated-SMT) mode, the Virtual CPU numbers mean nothing. They only apply to Shared mode.

    As your p550 has two physical CPUs and and this LPAR is already running with two dedicated CPUs, don't worry about it.
