Thanks for the links. Only problem is that this documentation is not accurate. My client is looking at implementing SNMP traps. This is what the HMC doc says from the above link.
Use Electronic Service Agent to specify IP addresses or host names of servers you want to receive notification (SNMP trap) when problems occur. When the server receives notification that a service event has occurred, you can use a program application to process or display the information contained in the notification.
In the navigation area, open Service Applications.
1. Select Service Agent.
2. Select Customer Notification.
3. In the Notification of Service Events window, click the "SNMP Traps" tab.
4. Select "Enable SNMP traps notification".
5. Click Add to add an IP address or host name of the server to the list and to select the notification event.
Starting with #3, there is not "SNMP Traps" tab.
#4, no "Enable SNMP traps notification" selection.
There is an "SNMP Traps Configuration" tab with an "Add" button, but the only event available is "Problem Log Entry Created". In the documentation the list of SNMP traps available, doesn't even include this event. Granted this is probably obscure functionality, but if you are going to put it in the product, it should be accurately documented.
I've for the most part been impressed with IBMs documentation. Its usually pretty through. But seems like when it comes to the HMC, something somewhere fell apart.
