Hi. It sounds like values of the key variable are not unique within one of the files (not across the two files). Check the MATCH FILES command's TABLE subcommand; that might be what you need, perhaps for Dataset B.

Subject: Help with merging 2 datasets including 594 key variables
Hey everyone,
I am trying to merge 2 datasets:
Dataset A: includes 491 observations and 5 594 variables;
Dataset B: includes 236 observations (all already included in Dataset A) and 594 key variables already in Dataset A but without any values, except for the ID variable. I made sure that key variables all have the same name, label and length.
However, when I try to merge the 2 datasets using the 'one-to-one (key values)' option, my IDs are duplicated.
Any idea what's wrong?
Thanks a lot for your help!
