Please can someone give advise as I am not sure if the current configuration for our environment is quite correct.

I am in the mindset that Native MPIO and HDLM can co-exist on a server however does this require the host attach script for HDLM?

also can SDD and HDLM co-exist on a system and does the host attach need to be installed

I have a server with Hitatchi and SVC Luns presented with SDD / HDLM / Native MPIO drivers:

    > lslpp -l DLManager.mpio.rte
    Fileset Level State Description

    Path: /usr/lib/objrepos
DLManager.mpio.rte 5.94.0.102 COMMITTED Dynamic Link Manager

    Path: /etc/objrepos
DLManager.mpio.rte 5.94.0.102 COMMITTED Dynamic Link Manager

    > lslpp -l devices.common.IBM.mpio.rte
    Fileset Level State Description

    Path: /usr/lib/objrepos
    devices.common.IBM.mpio.rte
5.3.8.4 APPLIED MPIO Disk Path Control Module

    Path: /etc/objrepos
    devices.common.IBM.mpio.rte
5.3.8.4 APPLIED MPIO Disk Path Control Module
    > lslpp -ha devices.sdd.53.rte
Fileset Level Action Status Date Time

    Path: /usr/lib/objrepos
    devices.sdd.53.rte
    1.7.0.0 COMMIT COMPLETE 10/10/08 02:10:16
    1.7.0.0 APPLY COMPLETE 10/10/08 02:10:16

    Path: /etc/objrepos
    devices.sdd.53.rte
    1.7.0.0 COMMIT COMPLETE 10/10/08 02:10:19
    1.7.0.0 APPLY COMPLETE 10/10/08 02:10:19

    > lslpp -l devices.fcp.disk.ibm.rte
    Fileset Level State Description

    Path: /usr/lib/objrepos
devices.fcp.disk.ibm.rte 1.0.0.11 COMMITTED IBM FCP Disk Device

    Path: /etc/objrepos
devices.fcp.disk.ibm.rte 1.0.0.11 COMMITTED IBM FCP Disk Device
    does this configuration look ok?

    thanks

Yes, that is true. HDLM appears to work on top of MPIO, adding new load-balancing algorithms.

however does this require the host attach script for HDLM?

I am not aware of any scripts needed to get it working. For us, it just works.

Your HDLM is pretty far out of date. They are up to 6.3 now.
