My AIX 5.3L (p550) has 4 hd belonging to 2 groups (rootvg hdisk0 and hdisk1, appvg hdisk2 and hdisk3). Because I installed the Oracle 10g app on the hdisk1, its data stores in hdisk3, and hdisk2 has a BAAN v appl. On average, iostat shows
Disks: % tm_act Kbps tps Kb_read Kb_wrtn
hdisk3 1.7 189.2 4.0 194084478 28133680
hdisk0 0.3 6.5 1.0 2106989 5488438
hdisk2 0.3 129.0 0.9 8628882 142825548
hdisk1 0.7 14.8 1.9 2113379 15313614
Now I want to located a drive as a NFS remote drive for another AIX box, however the drive still has lots space are the hdisk1 and hdisk3. Because of the hdisk1 is part of the rootvg, while hdisk3 is the busy one, it is hard choice for me to use either one. Can anyone give me some considerations for the decision?
