    Philip,

    Can you unmount /nethome, and confirm the /nethome mount point (the
    directory) has permissions 0755? You cannot check the underlying mount
    point with the file system mounted.

    I've had strange errors with nagivating filesystems when the underlying
    mount point lacks the read and execute bit for all users.

    This is an excellent catch! AIX check both the mounted file system and the underlying mount point, and I have bene burned by this in the past.
