  • 1.  Fuzzy Match in Propensity Score Matching

    Posted Fri August 07, 2020 03:14 AM

Good morning, I am Yu Jie.

Currently I am doing medical research using propensity score matching using SPSS. However in my output I noticed there are exact match and fuzzy match. I would like to ask for your opinion regarding what is the different between exact match and fuzzy match? Can I include the fuzzy matches into my analysis?

    Thank you very much.

An exact match means that the predicted value is exactly equal for the case and control variable. A fuzzy match indicates they are within the tolerance value of each other. It is normal for there to be fuzzy matches. You can experiment with the tolerance value to see how tight you can make it while still able to match most cases.
