  • 1.  Free Trail for the new RDI 9.8.

    Posted Wed May 03, 2023 09:27 AM

    Hello, I am a new software developer and right now I try to learn RPG. I would like to use the new RDI and try it out with the free trail for 120, but for some reason, I am unable to find out how do I do that. I downloaded the zip file and started the RDI and tried to install new software, and i should choose the license jar file. But where do i get that or where can I find it in the folder or do i use the free trail? I was unable to find any instructions or tutorials.

    Would appreciate any help for a newcomer. Thanks

    @Bernhard Brunner
    Without the license jar file you have to use the free trial!

    To get a the license jar file you have to get in touch with a IBM business partner to get a quote. The IBM business partner can get you then a license you need. A license will cost round about 1100 €.
    If you are from germany I can recommend you a business partner if you want.

    Greetings

    Thank you for your reply. I am in Austria and my company does not have yet the license but thank you for your offer. In the meantime I wanted to use the new version anyway for the next 120 days. With some help I figured out that the issue was of course on my side. I used the jar file for version 9.6.x.x because why not. Maybe it works, or it doesnt. It did not ofc and the license status was set to floating. Therefore I was not able to use it. My mistake was, that I thought, I would need a free Trial jar file. I managed to make change the floating to inactive and it switched to Trial.

    I am very new to IBM hardware and software and I got confused a little bit about the website and the support options and that some links send me into a circle.
