    Follow the following steps to perform Firmware Upgrade:

    1. Take mksysb backup of the server

    2. Upgrade the CD Drive and Tape drive firmware before doing the upgrade of System Firmware. If these devices firmware are at lower level, there are major chances of system firmware failing. These are the main devices which will be tested during POST

    3. Upgrade the System Firmware

    If the firmware upgrade fails, we cannot revert back to old firmware of the server. You need to upgrade the firmware of the server using Floppy Disk or CD drive, whichever is available.
    Thanks,

    -do mkssysb and critical data recovery(u also can save the profile to local disk in HMC,if any problem happen
    then u just can initialize the lpar)

    first thing u have to know is it the machine is connected to HMC or standalone.
    If HMC then just download the microcode from IBM website.then write it to dvd
    and then go to HMC firmware update portition
    • Licensed Internal Code Maintenance
    --> Licensed Internal Code Update
    --->Upgrade Licensed internal code to new release

    -better reboot the machine.

    then to check the result
    #lsmcode

    then see the temporary ,i should change to higger
