We are running AIX 5.3 TL08, HMC 6.13, on p5 570 and 550's. I recently discovered and error message that happens only after we IPL the partitions. FCP_ARRAY_ERR10 is the message name. I found a thread from a year or so ago, that said the firmware level on the HBA's was not compatible with the firmware level of the power 5 systems.

I downloaded the firmware from the support/fix site for the device firmware listed under SF240_358, however I am running SF240_320 on these systems. The download included SF240_358_201, but I cannot install this right now. Will it cause conflicts or corruption if I install just the HBA firmware without updating the p5 firmware?

The HBA's are currently at 90X13 and the fix is 91A5.

Second question, all the instructions imply that I can update the HBA firmware without shutting down the systems. Makes sense on one partition, it is direct connected. What will happen to the 8 partitions that have the HBA assigned to VIO's when I update them?

Find the fix you want and you can download the fix and the instructions for that specific fix.

Note: you get microcode updates when installing new technology levels (TL) and service packs (SP) only you are unaware as this happens with the new drivers included in the packages.

    thanks N
