    Hi All,

Is there any way of exporting meta data information in tabular format for cognos FM packages. I want to know details like Query subject name, Query items, and there technical name.

I am aware about "Export model" option in framework manager but it gives you an output in xml.

Please let me know if anyone is aware of any option within cognos or using some third party tool.

    Thanks& Regards,
    Shailesh D

In Motio PI Professional there is an option to export contents of a package or the entire CPF model file and it shows objects within all levels of the hierarchy down to query item level.

This functionality should be available within the free version.

Perhaps the build-in feature of Framework Manager to document the model is another alternative:

All – yes, there is a way to get a tabular view of all objects within an FM Model.  What you have to do is run your model.xml through an xslt, this will render the objects in tabulr format in a web browser, which you can then copy and paste into a spreadsheet or text document

The only challege is since there are so many variants on how developers develop, the xslt in general works only on one model.xml.  So what we enforce at our shop is making sure all developers develop with a certain style (e.g. Relational versus DMR), having only certain namespaces, etc...

If you have a small model that you can share, I can develop an xslt for you.
