  • 1.  Experience with IDS 15

    Posted Thu July 03, 2025 12:53 PM

    Hello,

is there someone to share practical experience of migration of IDS 12.10 or IDS 14.10 to IDS 15?

The path we are now interested in is:

    • in place migration of existing large databases
    • without upgrading CSDK/JDBC/4GL, ie. possibly with switch to native mode, but without using large tables.

    Thank you

    Tomaz:

I can likely help you. If you run v15.0 in native mode (ie infrastructure version 1), even if you only use SMALL tables, you will have to recompile your code due to changes in the sqlca structure where some values have increased from INT to BIGINT. That may also require you to change some printf() format codes if you are using "C" or C++ and printing error reports. Otherwise, no code changes will be required.

But I was also interested in info from the battlefield - has anyone experience o migration of large databasese/applications? What is the practical experience? Any hiccups?

    Hello Thomas,

We have Informix 15 installed for QA / testing purpose with Genero BDL, using CSDK 4.50 and CSDK 15.

Feel free to contact me regarding client applications adaptations.
