escalation logic in Modeler process

    Hi,
    We have a huge workflow system in place, we want to redesign the application as it has become really compicated. We want to get the escalation of a task out of workflow. Is it possible to implement this in modeler and remove it from workflow. One of the basic requirements is , the user wants to keep a flexible list of people to whom a task should be escalated. Please help !!!
