    Running a PowerHA 6.1 cluster.  The "PowerHA for AIX Cookbook" suggests on pg 328 that ECVGs must be varied off and on again in normal mode in able to run the "chvg -g" command to acquire LUN space increases.  We opened a PMR w/IBM and they confirmed this, as well.

    Other posts and users have suggested this was once necessary, but is no longer.  Can someone give me the basic commands for doing this dynamically w/o stopping the cluster?

    As you and I discussed offline, this is an old limitation.  I haven't pinpointed the exact level of AIX that this limitation went away but the man page for the command and options should be a good reference to confirm or deny if any given level supports doing so.

    Also, the -P restriction has also lifted per the following info. It appears that -t though is still a restriction in the latest levels of AIX today, as the man page states. I believe it is a work item with no exact ETA of when that one will be removed.

    7100-02 - use AIX APAR IV19302

    The above response was me too, but we are working on updating the PowerHA for AIX cookbook including hopefully getting the limitations/restrictions updated correctly.

    During that project I recently took the time to create a DVE demo with PowerHA. Though the exact PowerHA level is not relevant, you need AIX levels that support it. My research implied 6.1.4 was the first to add it, but I'm not 100% sure.
