    Hello Community,
Our team would like to announce the new updated User's Guide for DMC V3.1.10 (PDF format).  With more than 200 pages of information, we added details about the new features available in V3.1.9 and V3.1.10, including SQL Builder, Replication, and much more.

Please feel free to use this document to learn how to install and explore the Data Management Console product on your own.
It is free of charge, you just need to create a case with IBM Db2 Data Management Console support team and request a copy of the document.
Here is the link to create a case with us:
    https://www.ibm.com/mysupport/s/?language=en_US

    We hope you enjoy it!

    Hi Cintia,

would it be also available for IBM Champions or IBM Gold Consultants without having access to open IBM Cases on some customers behalf? Come on, DMC is AFAIK a free product and the docs are now behind the paywall.
    Cheers

We need a proper link to the document if you want traction on this.

Why make life so difficult by having to create a case ?

    Hello all,

    Thank you for the feedback.

The DMC User's Guide is an initiative from DMC Support team, and we don't have an easy access to publish documents.

Unfortunately the size of the PDF file is around 24MB, and it is not something that we can send to customers via e-mail, and that's the reason why we use cases, so we can attach the document for download.

You are missing the point Cintia

To download DB2 PDF's there is no requirement to raise a case, you just click on the link.

That is how it should be for DMC.

    Hello Terry,

I understand that Db2 PDF files are just a click away, but there is a whole team just to write, review and publish those documents.

Just like we have a team to work on KC, and publish manuals.

This document was created by our support team, and unfortunately we don't have the same structure like development or official documents are done.

I know that several customers missed the old IBM Redbooks, believe me, I miss them too.

That's why we have this idea, based in our experience working with cases, to create a document to help focusing the main features and specially the configuration of the product, which is a different point of view from a regular KC manual.

I hope you enjoy the document the same way we enjoyed creating it!

    Hi Cintia,

I just can second Jason. And there are two easy ways for you to get a controlled publication of this document:

    1. Include it in the Db2 beta distribution. So only people, who register for the Db2 beta will be able to download the document (beside a copy of DMC, which was included in the beta in the last year).
    2. Make it available like IBM free software downloads. I think, that DMC should be available here too:
      https://www.ibm.com/de-de/products?q=Db2%20Data%20Management%20Console&types[0]=trial
Ooops! This leads to a VERY old copy of DMC 3.1.3. You might want to update this copy!
    3. FixCentral is also a gated community, where someone needs an IBM ID to access files.

A customer of mine is not able to open IBM cases himself, but needs a lengthy internal process to open a ticket. It's always a pain for him to open a ticket.

    Just my $0.03

    Cheers

    Hi Cintia,

I'm happy that I could convince a customer of mine, that I can use his contract to open this case.

BTW the data in the IBM Case System while opening a case for DMC is quite outdated. In my humble opinion, this is also something, IBM could update to show a nice view to customers. It just shows version 3.1.4 as currently used version.

    Cheers

    Roland

Why force users to open a request to get documentation on a free product?
Does IBM think ORACLE or Microsoft would do this?
IBM team told me they did it to get statistics on people using it,
but they will neither know how many people gave up using DMC.

    Too true, Pascal.

IBM is lucky to have critical users like us.

Most customers don't complain, they just walk away.

DMC user manual is a handy book for quick reference based on hot questions we got from customer side via daily case operation. It is maintained by DMC support team, so please post your feedback regarding this manual here in community.

Here is a technote which hosts the latest download link for DMC user manual.

The official reference doc for DMC is still in Knowledge Center here. KC topic will be updated for each release.
