  • 1.  Distributing report based on parameter

    Posted Tue October 06, 2020 03:54 PM
    Hi
I have a question that is probably rather beginner level.
We have 4 scheduled reports that are the same except for the region parameter. The 4 reports are scheduled to be sent to different group of users that work in that region.
When I need to make a change to the report I have to do it 4 times.
The list of users are manually added to the schedule details

Any way to do this more elegantly?
    Thanks for your help.

I think it should be the same question as I post just now, I got @Dariusz Danielewski 's feedback, burst report might be help.

    • You can create report views and schedule for each region and maintain email list.
    • Other way is to add same report in a Job with different Parameters and email lists.

    Hi Balazs,

We had the same requirement and solved it with Cognos Event Studio. I use a standard report and can use Event Studio to set the execution parameters and target group distribution. So I can use a report for 'N' use cases.

The prerequisite is that you have a trigger that ensures that the reports are executed. That can be tricky.

I hope that this will help you.

    Regards Peter

Use burst report for each of the region and distribute to a Directory Group (a CAMID) or using email to a distribution group. This way you can control it directly in your LDAP/AD directory, eMail server, or Cognos itself.
